2 Hours after she was born

I was started 1 week early. I feared having a huge baby and my doctor said I was a good candidate to being started. We got to the hospital around 7:30 in the morning, but didn’t get started until 9:30. Love the hurry up and wait thing! I got an epidural around 12:30, I think! While I was getting my epidural my water broke. I also got really sick about 20 minutes after my epidural. My blood pressure was really low and therefore I felt like throwing up and was sweating really bad. They got some medicine in me really fast and I felt so much better.  I was checked around 3:00 and was only dilated  to a 4. Great another long labor (I was in labor with Jaden for 34 hours). 45 minutes later my nurse came in because her heart rate was dropping and sometimes that happens if things are getting close. She checked me and I was at an 8. She started getting everything ready and 15 minutes later she checked me again. She said you are fully dilated and I can feel a head! She went to find a doctor (Mine was on a plane to Australia). Finally one came in. 2 other people were giving birth at the same time! I pushed through about 3 contractions and Abigail was born!! I got to hold her right away as Bruce cut the umbilical cord. Different that Jaden where they took him right to the NICU. I am so happy to have precious little girl here and that things went well.

Big brother Jaden seems to love Abby. He has had a cold, so he is so good to kiss Abby on the head! Although I did see him kiss her on her lips when we brought her home. Hopefully she doesn’t get his cold!

So the first night I had Abigail stay in the nursery so I could get some sleep. My nurse brought her into me to feed her and told me she had been turning blue and spitting up a lot of clear fluid.  I fed her and she seemed to be gagging a lot, so my nurse came back and got her. She continued to spit up a lot and also her oxygen levels kept dropping. In the morning they pumped her stomach and did some x-rays. She seemed to have swallowed amniotic fluid and just kept gagging on it. So they kept her in a intermediate nursery where they had monitors on her the whole time. I had to go feed her in there and take visitors one at a time to see her. Her oxygen levels stayed good and she wasn’t spitting up anymore. So that evening she got to come back with me. I did have them take her to the nursery at night again so I wouldn’t have to worry if she was alright or not. That next morning she was all cleared and we were able to go home around 2 that afternoon.

Going Home!!CIMG4359

She didn’t like her car seat at first, but that didn’t last long.

Abigail’s first Sunday at home. We didn’t go to church, but I couldn’t resist putting her in a dress! Yes, she does have bird legs!

She doesn’t cry too much, but if she is hungry watch out! She seems to sleep a lot and is a good eater (I hope). She eats very fast, so I hope she is getting enough!

We love Abigail and we feel we are so lucky to have her in our family. Also, thank you to everyone who has helped us! From babysitting Jaden to bringing us meals and gifts. We really do have great family and friends!

She is so pretty and she does have some cute bird legs! Scary about the not breathing at night, but I'm glad it's all good. Rocky eats fast too, but he gets plenty, he's a chunker! Good luck to you, your family is beautiful.

Hi Holts!
We got your announcement in the mail, and sad enough I didn't even know you were pregnant! I haven't been too up on blogging lately! Congrats though, we are so happy for you guys.
